As more and more cities hope to phase out existing diesel engines to replace electric vehicles, most existing bus fleets will be updated. This may be an ideal opportunity to introduce new networked vehicle functions at the same time, and it may also open the door to a new human-machine interface (HMI) concept.
HMI is evolving throughout the business field, with a common focus on improving the safety and efficiency of vehicles. However, the public transport sector faces unique challenges. Given that these are actually the only commercial vehicles that allow ordinary citizens to ride, safe operation, ideally benefiting from innovative HMI, is essential for protecting this particularly valuable "cargo".
